School Uniform

Our experience shows that the majority of our parents prefer their children to be dressed in school uniform, believing that it makes for neatness of appearance and helps avoid rivalry in dressing for fashion.  We would encourage you to dress your child in uniform but stress that blazers are not essential.

Our school uniform is as follows:-

  • White shirt or polo shirt
  • School tie
  • Red jumper or cardigan
  • Grey trousers or skirt
  • School shoes (not trainers)

P.E.
Suitable clothing for P.E. consists of shorts and t-shirt.  Many children wear the white school polo shirt.  Footwear should be soft gym shoes – many children wear the black, elasticated type which are readily available in many stores at a small cost.

Please note: trainers are unsuitable and must not be worn.

There are forms of dress which are unacceptable in all schools such as:

  • the wearing of football colours
  • clothing with slogans that may cause offence (anti-religious,   symbolism or political slogans)
  • clothing which advertises alcohol, tobacco or drugs
  • clothing which can be deemed unsuitable in terms of Health & Safety grounds such as  shell suits, combat style clothing, dangling earrings, loose fitting clothes, particularly  in practical classes.
  • articles of clothing that could inflict damage on other pupils or be used by others to do so.
  • footwear that may damage flooring

Application forms for clothing grants are available from Q & A Offices, the school or Education Resources, Almada Street, Hamilton.
