Reporting to Parents

St. Blane’s recognises that good teamwork among parents, children and schools is the key to a successful education for your child.

We will provide parents with reports so that you can see what your child is doing and how they are progressing.  In addition, there will be parents’ meetings which offer you the opportunity to discuss how your child is doing in school and you can contact the school at anytime to discuss any matter that you wish to raise.

Weekly Target Sheets are sent home on Mondays.  These show parents how well children are behaving in school.

Our style of ‘pupil reports’ will help you to get to know more about the 5-14 curriculum which each child follows and describe what has been taught and areas where you can help.

We welcome any comments or additional information from parents to help us provide the best possible education for your child.

We send home written reports on progress twice a year.  In October an Interim Report shows how well pupils have settled down to their work in the new school year.

In March a Full Report described progress made during the year and highlights development needs and next steps.

Parents Meetings with the class teacher are held twice yearly in October and March.

Meetings are arranged with individual parents at convenient times during the year when it is desired by the parent or school.

Newsletters
These are regularly distributed to keep parents informed of all school activities.  These letters are given to the oldest child in each family who attends the school.  Sometimes, if a return is necessary, every child gets a letter. Click here for Newsletter on our website

Parents are welcome in St. Blane’s.  You may call or phone for a mutually convenient time to meet with the teacher or any member of staff.

Parent Helpers
Parents (and family members!) are encouraged to come into the school and help in a variety of ways.

We have a group who come into classes on a regular weekly (sometimes more often!) basis.  They work with small groups of children and help the teacher prepare resources or display children’s work.

Some also run the school library.

Others have volunteered to help with out of school activities such as visits to the Leisure Centre for swimming lessons or road safety lessons for P1 & P2 as part of the Kerbcraft programme.

Our Coffee Mornings, Fun Days, Sports Day and visits to Church run smoothly thanks to the many parents who volunteer to help.
