Determined to Succeed

Enterprise in Education provides greater opportunities to teach curricular areas in real and meaningful contexts.  In St Blane's we provide an enterprising approach which encourages pupils to become involved in decision making about what they learn and how they learn it.

Pupils experience formal enterprise topics approximately three times in the courses of P1 to P7 but all classes aim to have an enterprise activity each year and approach their topic work in an enterprising way.

Over the past year children have been involved in numerous enterprising experiences (below are some examples):-

P1   Christmas topic involved pupils in making products to share in the
class, display in school and take home as gifts.

P2/3 Made and sold rosettes for the House teams at the School Sports.

P4    Pupils designed a School Calendar for sale to parents and friends of
        the school.

P5/6 Pupils were actively involved in advertising the school show,
producing programmes, posters, tickets, collecting money, writing
         invitations etc.

P6     Made and sold items such as "Reindeer Dust" and Badges at the
         Christmas Fair

P6/7  Took responsibility for organising the Annual School Book Fair.

P7     Pupils were involved in making a Christmas product to sell at the
         associated High School Craft Fayre.
